About us
The ECREDibles is a peer support group for people who have dementia and are interested in research. This might be as a contributor to existing research but it is also for people who co-produce, co-author and co-research.
We are a sister group to the University of Edinburgh’s ECRED (Edinburgh Centre for Research into the Experience of Dementia) and we are a member of the DEEP network across the UK.
We are an independent group, which means that although we are closely associated with the ECRED team and we attend ECRED meetings and get involved with relevant research opportunities, we are also free to support other research projects and organisations, with our expertise by experience and with our co-production skills.
Our group started with a grant from Life Changes Trust in 2021, with support from groups in the DEEP network, the University of Edinburgh’s ECRED team, Innovations in Dementia and the University of Bradford’s Experts by Experience group.
We were then awarded a grant from Innovations in Dementia, through Dementia Enquirers, in 2021, to research how to set up a group connected with a Scottish University, and how to co-research alongside them.
Dementia Enquirers collectively won a Dementia Heroes Award from Alzheimer’s Society for their work in research. The Pioneers associated with Dementia Enquirers wrote many guides to support ‘gold standards’ in coresearch and ethical research.
ECREDibles were nominated for a Positive Disruptors Award through the University of Edinburgh.

Supporting ECRED Edinburgh Centre for Research into the Experience of Dementia.
Supporting the University of Swansea researchers with a funding bid.
Supporting BRACE charity in a 2023 event.
We are a group in the DEEP network and Agnes is about to attend the DEEP facilitator’s gathering in Manchester in July.
We are supporting the Scottish Dementia Alumni and Science Ceilidh in the interactive game for primary schools and teaching resource Dementia Through Our Eyes
